Swimming zones
Swimming in the Isar is permitted in the following areas:
- Großhesseloher Eisenbahnbrücke to just before Marienklausensteg
- Behind Marienklausensteg up to Thalkirchner Brücke
- Behind Flauchersteg to the Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke
- Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke on the east side until shortly before Wittelsbacherbrücke
- Behind Wittelsbacherbrücke on the east side up to Reichenbachbrücke
- Behind Max-Joseph Bridge on the east side up to 200 meters before the Stauwehr Oberföhring
Boating zones
Boating (including surfing and stand-up paddling) on the Isar is permitted in the following areas:
- Behind Wehr Großhesselohe up to 100 meters after Thalkirchner Brücke with the exception of the weirs and the raft slide at Marienklause
- Max-Joseph-Brücke up to 200 meters before Oberföhringer Wehr
Werkkanal
Swimming zones
Swimming in the Werkkanal is permitted in the following areas:
- Behind the bridge to Marienklause (Schützenanlage) to Thalkirchner Brücke
Boating zones
Boating (including surfing and stand-up paddling) on the Werkkanal is permitted in the following areas:
- After the Wehr Großhesselohe until shortly before the Werkkanal branches off into the Floßgasse at the rafting monument. Entering the Floßgasse is at your own risk! There is a danger to life! Keep a safe distance from rafts! Attention: Observe the danger signs on site. There is a danger to life at the junction. Before entering the raft lane, there is an exit point on the left-hand (western) bank. After the raft lane, boats can be put back into the raft canal below.
- Below the junction into the Floßgasse up to the outlet of the rafting area at Zentralländstraße
Danger points
Entry into the Floßkanal

Watch out for the weir flap! Enter the Floßgasse at your own risk! Danger of death! Keep a safe distance from the rafts! Before entering the Floßgasse, there is an exit point on the left-hand (western) bank. After the raft alley, boats can be put back into the raft canal.
In the outflow of the spillway gate/raft slide on the raft canal
Caution, risk of collision! Danger of death! Rafts and boats may enter the raft canal via the raft slide at suddenly increasing current speeds.
Werkkanal - Kraftwerk Isar I

Caution, power plant! Danger of death! End of boating zone. Docking not possible on the Werkkanal.
Flauchersteg and Flaucherwehr

Caution, weir! Hole! Danger of death! End of boating zone. Docking is possible on the western bank (on the left in the flow direction).
Marienklausensteg

Caution, weir! Sharp drop-off / Hole! Danger of death! Swimming and boating is prohibited near the Marienklausensteg, both upstream and downstream
Stauwehr Heizkraftwerk
Caution, weir! Hole! Swimming is only permitted on the eastern side of the river (on the right in the flow direction).
Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke
Caution: After the Braunauer Eisenbahnbrücke, swimming is only permitted on the eastern side of the river (on the right in the flow direction).
Wittelsbacher Brücke
Caution, weir! Hole! Swimming is prohibited 20 m upstream and 40 m downstream of the Wittelsbacher Brücke.
Reichenbachbrücke

Caution, weir! Hole! Danger of death! End of swimming zone.
Outflow of Wehr VI

Caution, danger of death! The water level of the river can rise drastically and suddenly due to special operational incidents on the weir or extreme weather influences.
Max-Joseph-Brücke
Caution: Swimming is only permitted on the eastern bank (on the right in the flow direction), until 200 m before the Oberföhringer Wehr.
Outlet Eisbach

Caution, danger of death! Dangerous currents! Swimming is prohibited in the bay and on the western bank (on the left in the flow direction).
Oberföhringer Wehr

Caution, weir! Danger of death! End of swimming zone in the city of Munich.
